Can you really enjoy this?

This is from Seven Springs near Johnstown, PA. Please tell me how you could enjoy skiing? The wait time for the lift could possibly give you just one run down the mountain all day long. More people standing around then on the slope, how could this be fun?

One leak down...one to go!

My old dad fixed the leak yesterday in the dungeon...now thats it raining out I have a new leak in the sunroom. The most expensive room in the whole house. It has leaked before and I've had the company that built it come and try to fix it. Still leaks, not every time it rains. Just when you think it has stopped after 2 or 3 rains, it starts right up again. It leaks around a screw in the inter ceiling. Just on little screw, and a ittiey bitty hole. I guess this weekend I'll unscrew it and squirt some clear caulking up in the hole and put the screw back in. Then see what happens. It'll leak from a different screw, the water has to come out somewhere; right? What a woman has to do these days...plow snow, pull the snow off the roof, shovel snow, work, housework, try to please everyone (oops I forgot, I'm the only one here) plus I have to fix the mailbox. The state plow was so nice to hit my mailbox and break the front clamp, my poor mailbox now hangs upside down. Kind of tricky when you pull up to it at night and get the mail out. The lid swings up, not down. But I know I can fix this! No need for dad or the Canadian. Well I just popped in to vent and now I'm done...

Hello!!!

Anybody out there? Leave a comment, I'm bored and all alone....my leak is still leaking and its still cold out with more to come...as in SNOW! Come on folks, will it kill ya to leave a message of
hope in any form; to know that someone is reading my blog....please just one comment...

View from the Kitchen window..need I say more!

Go ahead..click to enlarge. Kinda pretty looking from the inside out.

Is He Too Early?

While in the dungeon I came across The Rabbit; so
up he came to be placed by the tree in the sunroom. The rest of the rabbits and bling are being placed in the living-room..those pics I'll save for later.

Snow and Water Woes..

I'm bored...its Sunday and very cold and windy out. No work today so no plans..not much of a life! When all you got is work. I've fed the feathered friends, burned the paper garbage (you can do this out in the country) washed the dishes, and the clothes. surfed the net and carried 4 forty pounds of water softner salt to the dungeon. Upon making a discovery of a water leak. Oh shit! Folks I'm no plumber! Really isn't a bad leak..yet...just a little pinhead spray in a section of plastic pipe. (I need to buy some Duct tape!) As far as I'm concerned it can wait! I'll just have me old dad fix it..not that I can't, really! It'll give him something to do tomorrow. Like yesterday, he decided to plow around the house while I'll was at work, so I could get to the back garage and down to the bird feeder and the burn barrel. I had the tractor battery charging on low, but I told him the tire needed air before he used it. Folks my dad just doesn't listen! He started plowing around 11am but....sometime around 11:15am he said the tractor won't go back and forth...hence...flat tire...hence tire and chains came off of rim. The man just doesn't listen to me. Fill the damn tire before you start, just plug the air compressor in, put the thingee on the end and put that end too the tire thingee. You could have saved yourself four hours of work! Not to mention the hour it took me to put the shop back together. Men, don't they know how to put things back where they got them from! Now I got myself wondering if I should go to the dungeon and fix the pipe myself. Who knows what will happen when he has to replace a 12" section of plastic pipe that is between two connectors?

Call Offs

Co are call offs today at work. Total 25. Two were added later. That left 25 to do all the work. What really helped was FedX and Ups runs were shorten on Tuesday and Wednesday due to weather conditions. Which were worst than Oh Canada's. I'll post a link to later to a cam that is on 422 that you can see road conditions and road temps. Hell here it is. Its the Penn Run exit.

White and more WHITE

This picture is in front of the house. Thank goodness I called the neighbor up to plow the driveway out. I had a hard time getting out of the driveway this morning. At the end of drive it was up to my bumper with an ice crust about three inches thick from the freezing rain. He had to use his scoop to push it back. I plowed on Monday thinking it won't get so bad; but I was soooo wrong. Eight or nine inches of snow with 3 inches of ice and wind up to 35mph Dlaine wasn't about to go out and plow. So I did the next best thing; I paid the neighbor from downtown; this guy lives to plow in the winter.

Homeless in Indiana County!

This really shocked me....I know it can happen to anyone, anytime but in my county.

http://online.indianagazette.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2466&Itemid=2

I wonder how they got to be homeless? Divorce, mental issues, or just plain happened!
Our area has so few good paying jobs. Prices of the most essenial things go up everyday; that a gallon of milk cost more than a gallon of gas. Home heating cost is skyrocketing since this cold snap! How can anyone get ahead if your wages don't go up. I'm sure they had given up everything non worthy like; cable, extra vehicle, buying new clothes, new coats and brand name canned goods. You can only make the ends meet for so long......Does my county need a shelter? Maybe! We have Alice Paul House for the abused. The homeless living out in the cold in this country is just too much for me to image. How about your hometown? How many are homeless where you live? Do they use the shelter?

This is what greeted me in town this morning

This electric sign sits along Rte. 286 outside of the PennDots District 10 office. The deep chill is to last thru tomorrow with tonight being the worst.
So the Colts beat The Bears. I didn't think too much of the commerials this year either.
Before I go, I want to tell you something that happened to me tonight. I made it home about a little before 7pm. I clicked the garage door opener, NOTHING, did it again NOTHING. So I got out of truck and kicked the bottom of the door thinking it froze to the cement. No luck still didn't work. So I went thru the shop door (thank goodness I had the keys) and darn it I left the lights on in the garage when I left this morning, anyway I hit the opener inside and the door opened. So the culprit was a dead battery in the remote. Probably because it sat out in -6* degree temps all day at work. Until this bitter weather leaves I'll be carrying the remote in my coat pocket, along with 2 sets of keys, my smokes, lighter, my cell phone, my gloves, my earmuffs, tissues, pills, some gum and some small change. What's in your pockets? Bye for now; I need Coffee!

Super Bowl Sunday

Ok I admit I have the Super Bowl on right now...not that I care who wins. Its purely for the commerials. But as I watch I personally can't image paying $1,000 dollars or more for a ticket, plus that much more for a room....but to me its priceless to see it raining! Yep folks I have a smile on my face. You get what you pay for! It may be cold here but atleast I'm dry.....
So right now two Bears are down on the field...Benson is still down, a big guy like that-the harder they fall. Ok enough of this crap....I want to see commerials and more commerials.

I thought last Monday was cold...

Brrr...I need myArmstrong heater; but he's up North. The wind has not let up since yesterday and is to be the same thru Tues. COLD!!COLD!!!MORE COLD!!!! The wind chill is dangerous out there -20 to -30 below. I had the day off; thank goodness but tomorrow is another story. Had to dig up some long johns to wear under the scrubs...if you have ever worn scrubs there is not much to them. Very thin cotton; it's like wearing your top sheet off you bed; nothing to protect you from the elements.
I'm very thankful that the gas hasn't gone out at the well; with the cold and wind you just never know. Its murder to go down and pull the plunger out and get back to the house and relight the furnace, the heater in the sunroom and the hot water tank. But I've done it before and if I have to do it again I shall.
I guess I never did tell you all about my biopsies; my surgeon did find that I have Helicobacter Pylori short for H. pylon. Its a bacteria in the stomach that can cause ulcers and some other things. So I've been put on a regiment of Pre-pac for 14 days. 4 pills in the am and 4 in the evening; to be evenly spaced by 12 hours. They make your mouth taste like metal; burps are even worst. Hunger and ill tempered. After the regiment is finished and my pain with pressure after I eat comes back I'll have to have another upper GI scope and be treated internally. What Joy. I do feel better, really except for the taste thing. Before the gallbadder surgery all I thought about is what the dr would find. Cancer; bleeding ulcers; liver showing signs of distress. Family genics play a big part. Both parents have and had cancer, grandparents the same and heart problems run amuck in family. But I guess I'll be around for sometime yet...
So I'm off now to make my own supper....until later...keep warm.

Good Old Phil

I swear Phil must have been fed his greens laced with crack! As most of the country knows by now; that Phil didn't see his shadow this morning. Which means an early Spring, yea right....outside right now we have a major snow storm, wind and minus degree windchill. Driving home was a major learning experience in what the Hell is going on! I've lived most of my life in this area and I'm used to driving on snow covered roads; but there are some out there have no concept. First thing you don't ride my ass, when you can't see four feet ahead of your lights. Secondly; don't stay on my ass when I turn my turn signal on, this could mean that I plan on turning when I can spot the road in the blinding snow. Thirdly; when I tap my brakes, it means back-off. Fourth, yea you were pissing me off, so I tapped some more; then I crawled...all you had to do is back-off. Fifth; it winter out there even if Phil did suggested an early spring, it isn't here yet!
So fellow drivers give the person ahead of you a break, leave some room inbetween, slow down and maybe save a life! If not mine, how about your own. Stay warm out there folks...as for Phil( the fat rodent pictured above) you can go back to you den and have some more crack.
