Tough day! Posted by Picasa

Its a never ending process

Doctors!! First off dad's appointment was for 10:15 am. We got there at 10am. Didn't get called in till 11:15. Sat in exam room until 12pm. By this time I'm getting antsy and so is dad. Poke my head out the door to see if they went to lunch, the two front girls were eating at their desk, no doctor in sight. Getting a little pissed. This doctor comes to Indiana from Pittsburgh once a month to see patients that don't want to travel Pittsburgh. But what most people don't realize is; if anything needs treatment you have to travel to Pittsburgh because this doctor doesn't have medical privleges in Indiana. Finally at 12:15pm enter Dr. ?. He does his thing with dad, I step out to give privacy then step back in and learn nothing new. Discuss tests and treatment. We all think dad is showing signs that his bladder and prostrate cancer might be returning. Damn that other Pittsburgh Dr. X that didn't take his bladder out in the first place. Last Radiation (two years ago) has shrunk the bladder but it still being there is causing problems. Why Dr. X left his bladder when he did a urostomy is beyond some other doctors thoughts that we have seen in the last two years. So now; Dr. ? wants dad to go Dr. Y and Z. Y is another urologist and Z is an oncologist. So the cycle of Doctors are starting again....already I'm tired.
So next week my interview is Monday. Wednesday is the wound care center with dad(another problem we've been dealing with for over a month) Friday another dr appointment with dad. On and on it goes...I often wonder who is going to take care of me when I get older. Probably ME!

Our Birdie

This is our Eastern Blue Bird. He was outside the kitchen window this morning checking out the homes in the yard. After he checked out the inside his mate would enter and look it over. Then on they would fly to another birdbox in the yard. Seems abit early for nesting. The colors aren't as bright as the pic below but who cares. In a few weeks this little guys plumage should brighten and he'll have to start thinking about laying the first layer of the nest. Yep, the male bluebird starts the nest and the female will finish it but only when it's to her liking.

A Little Birdie

I was browsing the website of: The Great Backyard Bird Count when I came across this photo of a Eastern Bluebird taking a bath in a birdbath. The colors are wonderfully captured in this photo. Credit goes to Errol Taskin Shreveport, Louisiana. Katrina didn't get this little guy.

WooHoo!!!!

I have a job interview on Monday! Here's too fingers being crossed and a prayer or two. I was really hoping for an interview with a patient transport company in the area (closer to home) maybe they'll call yet. Getting a job in the area is hell. Wages suck and for me 20 miles to town isn't worth it with the price of gas. But beggars can't be chosers; right. Oh well, I'm still excited. My next question is? What to wear! I'll shop on Friday after dad's doctor appointment. Nothing fancy but practical is what I have in mind. Any hints out there in blog land?? All is welcome.

Amazing Pictures of the Yukon Quest

While surfing the net and Blogs I came across
this site: http://www.yukonquest.com

The photos on this site are by professional Carsten Thies. When you look at his photo's
You image yourself right on the trail with the mushers. Yukon Quest is a dogsledding race that starts in Fairbanks, Alaska and ends in Whitehorse, Yukon. One thousand miles of hard going for some. Take a look at this site. Read about the 2006 mushers. Quite afew women in the line up. Although this type of sport is not for me, (I know my place in the world.) I love seeing the dogs and mushers work together.

OK back to the crap

We had a late start to the morning on Friday. We finally finished the things we had to do to cross the border. We both had our license's ready for the border patrolman in the booth. I pull up and we answer some questions and he tells us to pull off up on the left hand side and an officer would tell us where to park and what to do. By this time I'm a little scared. Never before have we had to pull aside. Little old me. I'm no threat and neither is the lover. The Customs officer told us to lock our doors and go to the second floor, have a seat and wait for our names to be called. By this time I just realised the custom officer in the booth didn't give me back my ID. So we go to the second floor and wait! And wait and wait. They call the lover in and then me. By this time I have no idea what to think. What did I do? Better yet what will I do! I answered his questions and then he wanted to search my truck. OK. He kept asking if I had any weapons or drugs and Liquer? Who me? NO but I do have my cigarettes. He rummaged thru the luggage, dirty clothes and all. When he was done with the back and had the tailgate closed I noticed he forgot to put my storage container back in. I asked him about this? Oh he forgot and had to shift things about to get it in. Well he's the one who messed things up. He then inspected the interior and back up to the second floor for another wait. But before I go on...while waiting outside with the customs officer rummaging I saw two males being hauled in cuffs to customs office. I wonder what they did? We waited some more, by this time my bladder was ready to explode, so I found the little girls room. While in there the customs officier gave us the OK to leave. Off we went. My first experience with our US customs. Wasn't real bad but scary. Seems Friday was slow. Lots of people up on the second floor.
So we head home, stopping to grab a cup of Joe and eat. We got home and the house was freezing. The gas had gone off at the gas well. So the lover had to go pull the plunger out, while I lit the furnace, hot water tank and the ventless heater. But I couldn't get the hot water tank lit, so guess who had to do it? Hey; I lit the others. Thank goodness the turtles were with my dad.
Oh, I do want to thank the US Customs, they protect our borders each and everyday to keep us safe.

This week was a whirlwind...

This past week started off planning the trip north for a few days; washing clothes, paying bills, packing and leaving the mailperson a note to hold the mail for Saturday delivery, making sure you have checked off that to do list. Seemed like every time I checked one off, I added something to the list. We finally ventured off on Wednesday, (list- all checked off) hoping snow wouldn't hinder our travel. It was smooth sailing, traffic was light in and around Buffalo, NY. No one made me curse their driving and I must admit that for once it was a pleasant drive. Stopped at the new Casino in Niagara Falls, and hit $210.00 on a nickel slot. Not to bad. The new Casino hotel is impressive. Colors and sculptures are outstanding. Then we headed to Pete's Market for the Prime Rib special. Pete's Market is a bar/eatery that has been around for a long time. I'm sure its the food that keeps them going not the bar. Thursday was typical, Lover doing his stuff and me tagging along. Have I mentioned that it was COLD!!! The wind cut right thru you, and my boots were sock eaters. When I walked a half block I'd have to stop and tug with the devil boots for my socks. I'd hike the socks up and off we go for another half block. Plus my can of Static Guard mustn't worked when you cross the border. Every time I touched something the sparks flew. I sprayed everything I was wearing, even myself from neck to toes. I guess I should have sprayed my head. My hair was showing signs frizzle frazzle by the end of the day. That poor guy that I touched; I hope his pacemaker didn't go off! But anyway; Friday deemed sunny and the falls was still flowing so all is good. We decide to head south. This is when the shitty stuff happens!!! You'll have to wait until tomorrow for the shit, this post is getting to long!

Cookies anyone?

My sister-in-law and her sister made all the cookies for
the wedding. Hundreds of them. This table was awesome! At the end of the table was dipping fountain of sinful chocolate that you could smother your marshmallows, strawberries and various other goodies into. The bride and groom are off for a short honeymoon, then back to base in South Carolina for a short stay. Then off to Turkey where my nephew will serve our country for two years and his bride will be a his side.
