It was such a beautiful day today that we took a walk in the woods. Look at the blue sky. I spotted the new hole made by a pileated woodpecker. We did see him; but the pics show him in flight as a black spot in the sky. Posted by Picasa

You wouldn't believe that honey bees would be out in January. But today they were feasting in the bird feeder, on what? I don't know. Posted by Picasa

Is Cabin Fever sitting in on me!

What this idiot wouldn't give for a cruise with added spa treatments, Candle light dinners and my own personal gopher who is a 6 foot hunk of a man. I would sit by the pool with one of those drinks with an umbrella in it and gaze over the ocean waves while the hunk applies suntan lotion to my hot skin. A girl can dream can't she?

Just three episodes!!!

The Book of Daniel only lasted three episodes. I thought this program was a HOOT! But I guess the bible thumpers didn't, plus they didn't like their lives put on National TV during prime time!!!
The thumpers must have watched and truth be told they didn't know how to change the channel.

On this dark and dreary night...

The lover was taking the garbage can out for the morning pick up at 11:15pm when he spotted a single bobbing light coming up the road. Its raining cats and dogs out and all he could hear was clomping and see the light bobbing. He thought maybe it was someone on a horse. But no; it was two young girls soaked! (19/20 years old) Saying their car broke down and asked if he could give them a ride to Indiana. (20 miles away) He came and got me and I was totally surprise that anyone would be out walking on a rural road especially two young girls alone had to be nuts! I first talked to them outside, carefully looking them over for weapons and what they had on, what they were carrying. Hey; even young girls can't be trusted these days. They were both soaked from being out in the elements of the night. I told them to come in and get warmed up and If I had to go anywhere I'd have to change out of my jammies to take them into to town. They were very polite; but to me their story was a little off. My very first thought was they were runaways. (one had a tattoo on one of her knuckles) But I couldn't prove it. So what do I do? They carried no backpack, the one girl had a small open carrying purse that you could see into. I offered the phone for them to call someone. No takers on the phone. Now What? The one girl said her sister lived in Indiana but didn't have a car to come and get them (the sister goes to IUP); but if they could get a ride there they would deal with the car that broke down the next day. Flags were going up, but I couldn't let these young girls walk the twenty miles. It not safe! Call the police or take them? I took them; if they're runaways their problems are just starting. While driving into town; The rain was coming down and it was one of those nights when it is hard to see. I'm thinking to myself these two girls could have been picked up by some duranged person along the way. I shivered at the thought that they could have been harmed. I delivered them to the door of the sister's house. At least they could get dry and eat something and decide what to do. Even now as I write this I wonder if they are ok. Maybe when they have to deal with the dead car, they will stop by since they have to go this way to get to it. And if not; maybe just maybe today things will be better for the both of them.

The little Billy Goat was out sunning himself today. He's been around for about 10 years. We usually see him from a distant on our way into Indiana. Today we decided to get a little closer look. He looked right at the camera for his picture to be taken. Posted by Picasa

One of my favorite pics. The dog on the left is Summer; my daughter's dog. The one in the suitcase is Dixiedoodle, when she was a pup. She met her demise by a hit and run driver. I miss her so. (both are Yorkies.) Posted by Picasa

Whats happening to my fish?

Over the last week or so, here in PA warm weather has bestowed us. The ice melted off the ponds and dead fish started popping up. The small pond had 3 small bass floating and the large pond had a blue gill. If more fish are found floating I may have to take water samples to the local extension office for analysis. I hope its just mother natures way of thinning over population. Any suggestions?

The first week of the New Year hasn't been too uppity; has it? The terrible accident at the Sago mine brought back memories of when my ex was in a cave in. Also when we lost 3 miners in an explosion years ago. Back then my dad was still working and was what they called a safety man. He was one of the first to go into the mines to look for the men that were trapped. He found one of them. And to this day he doesn't talk much about it! It changed something in him, less than a year after the accident he retired. My ex never worked a Sunday night (hoot owl shift) so once every three weeks I would have to call him off! Yep, you read that right. He was such a mama's boy. Still is! But then again he might have some fore sight of working in the mine when it has been idle from Saturday to Sunday night. My heart goes out to the families of the miners. We can only hope and pray that the lone survivor makes a speedy recovery. He may be the only one that could tell the world of what happened on Jan. 02, 2006.

This was sent to me by my uncle in a e-mail. Who ever did this was very creative. Posted by Picasa
